First Soccer Game Day...

Both girls started soccer today!  It definitely didnt come and go without the usual Latimer drama!   It began with Amy hating the idea of long socks and tennis shoes.  Quickly moved to Amy wanting to quit soccer (Something she has wanted to do for over a year now!) and needing new tennis shoes.  (Off to kohls...) And finally ended with Erika having an episode somewhere between heat exhaustion and hear stroke.  Daddy, when are you coming home??

We were happy when both games finally ended and we could come home, take baths, and be lazy watching movies all evening!   Boy these two never allow dull moments, that's for sure!

Dear Erika...

So Danny is away and missed her first day of 1st grade, so he wrote her a nice email.  Her eyes lit up and she was smiling ear to ear as she laid on my bed and read her note:

Dear Erika,
I just want to tell you how proud I am of you. You are so big now. I am so excited you are a first grader. Remember you go to school so you can learn lots of things.

Are you nervous? If you are, it is ok. You feel that way because you are excited and it is something new. You will feel better when you get to school and you are in your class. Then you will not be nervous.

Remember to have fun and learn lots. Make sure you are nice to everybody and be my big girl!

I love you and I miss you.

Thanks Daddy!

"Losing" her first tooth...

What a day Amy had last Friday!   We've known her front tooth was never going to make it to 6 when it would naturally fall out.  Of course, I was hoping and praying that it could hold on until daddy returned.  Unfortunately we got the bad news at the end of July and visited the oral surgeon that same week.  Thankfully he said we could postpone it until after we returned from the beach.  At the time that was wonderful news as tooth pulling is one of my nightmares and I was happy to push it off a bit longer.

Well, Friday was the day though I never told Amy it was happening.  The staff at the dr office was AMAZING dealing with her and she never even knew what was happening until it was over.  (And this wasnt even a pediatric office!).  She had quite the break down when it was done, the gas was removed and she found a hole where her tooth used to be.  Can you say hysterical?!   Danny was quick to remind me that she was coming off her "crack high" and to give her some compassion.  We made it through about an hour of these extreme emotions and then she passed out...

She improved by the minute after some sleeping and a lot of breakfast and by Friday evening, I had my girl back!!

My favorite saying of the whole ordeal came that day or the next as she stared in the mirror brushing her teeth...

"Ugh...mommy, this whole makes my mean face look meaner...errrr!"
Appears she knows how to use this loss to her advantage already!

We have a 1st Grader...

Today Erika started first grade!  Oh how time flies?  Settling in and falling asleep last night proves to be challenging for her.  As I walked out of my room after spending time getting a few things ready, I found this on the floor -

My poor girl...struggling with the "night before the first day of school jitters"!   Upon checking in on her I found her sleeping soundly.   That was a wonderful site that only lasted until about 5 AM.  I heard her up and about trying hard to stay in bed, but anxious indeed!

She appeared in my room shortly after 6 all dressed and ready for me to do her hair.  We took care I'd that and our girl was ready to go.  We woke Amy up, had a quick chat with daddy, took a few more pictures an off to gramma's we went!

After a long day of waiting and wondering how it all went, my goose finally appeared and was happy to report she had a great day and loved first grade.

Minus the new shoes...of course!!
Thank you Miss Joanne!
